Resources

Empowering students

LMSA Southwest strives to provide students with the resources they need to excel in their field of study as well as provide opportunities to give back to their communities and network with other Latinx students and physicians. Please see the pages for medical and pre-medical students for specific information!

Mentorship

LMSA National has compiled a list of physicians in diverse specialties who are enthusiastic about mentorship. Please reach out to them directly; they are expecting you! Make sure you take a close look at the "Any Special Requests?" column to see who they are interested in mentoring (e.g. premeds vs medical students).

Community Education

Picture
LMSA Southwest regional board members noticed that there was a deficit of information in Spanish to educate the community about the coronavirus pandemic. We hosted this talk with Dr. Shapiro of AltaMed to highlight some of the common myths or misconceptions about COVID-19. We hope it is useful to you and invite you to share it with your community!
The #EsoEsLoNuestro campaign, developed by the Medical Organization for Latino Advancement (MOLA) hopes to encourage the Latinx community to wear facemasks in a manner that is culturally sensitive and relevant in the hopes of decreasing the rising COVID-19 numbers in our community. Please watch and share in your social networks so that we can protect our friends, families, and communities.
