In the first episode former service chair, Dr. Jonathan Guajardo, joins us to tell the story of how he started "Christmas at the Border," our annual winter service project, back in 2018.

Dr. Jonathan Guajardo is a first generation Mexican-American who was raised in Baytown, Texas.
He pursued his undergraduate education at Baylor University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and went forward to complete his graduate degree at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine. Dr. Guajardo has always held an interest in giving back to his Latino Community through his efforts in the National Hispanic Institute, where he was head coach of the debate team and the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA), where he held leadership positions at his school’s chapter level, as well as the regional and national levels. As a first generation college and medical school graduate, Dr. Guajardo has developed a passion for mentoring the next generation of underrepresented minority youths and for community medicine. He is set to complete his family medicine residency at Alta Med in 2024. |
